Mod and inscription traders needed
As I'm looking for an "of enchanting" handle for a dagger and other rare / unusual weapon mods, screaming WTB in the major towns, I wonder why we still don't have a mod and inscription trader.
My storage is filling up with inscriptions that I won't use, but I know could be useful to other players. Anything I can't sell through a post here on guru is just going to get merched -- which is a real waste.
I know we can't have an auction house (if we could, there would be one by now), but we do have traders. Why not expand traders to include inscriptions and weapon upgrades? Is it supposed to be difficult, time consuming, and frustrating to get the upgrade I want?
I feel this is more important than extra storage space -- we need more ways than simply merching or standing around yelling WTS for hours on end to free up storage. Trade forums should be necessary only for rare items; it really shouldn't be necessary for me to start a thread simply because I want one, single, blasted dagger handle!

btw, I'm sure this has already been suggested elsewhere, I know it sucks to hear that, especially when some people scream about thread necromancy, but there are definitly a lot of these

I can never sell my mods, even the perfect ones, without hours of work for little gain. I have two storage characters filled with just mods because I can't bear to merch them but hate wasting hours to sell them. A trader would be perfect, and should have been implemented a long time ago.
And in response to the OP, I don't see why an auction house shouldn't be a possibility. Even the original Everquest had one and that was nearly 8 years ago. All you did was go to the global auction zone, set up the stuff you were selling and the price you wanted and go AFK. It would all happen by itself. Granted, the game is coded differently from Everquest, but an auction house should not be such a problem.

I'd like this for the lesser needed mods. My inventory is slowly filling up with Elemental mods and Conditions mods.
I'd prefer to see either no mods on sale at all or just lesser ones, if high priced mods were on sale its very likely the prices would crash across the board except for possible a few specific mods or new cookie cutter farming builds requiring certain mods pushing the price way out of balance (sorta like Sup Earth now the Smite solo build is here).

Now why would the prices crash across the board ?
It could be that there are lots people like leprendun who don't feel its worth selling their mods now, but with the trader they would sell them. Thus increasing supply which would lead to a price drop. But if this was the case, I don't see why it would actually be a problem for guild wars as a whole.
However a trader would become cluttered with lots of imperfect mods at the lowest possible price. So I'd suggest only allowing the perfect mods to be traded through the trader.

True, but an upgrade/inscription trader can operate alongside an auction house and has a few advantages over an auction house:
1 - The trader code already exists, so it should be reasonably easy for ANET to modify it to handle upgrades/inscriptions. An auction house would have to be programed from scratch.
2 - The trader would probably require less resources to run than an auction house for the same number of upgrades/inscriptions.
3 - With a trader the transaction takes place instantly. With an auction house you would have to wait for the auction to end.
The only disadvantage I see to an upgrade/inscription trader is that it would take some time for it to reach reasonable prices and stop being sold out. So I'm going to assume that there are enough people who either won't know or won't care that the trader is giving them less than they can receive from trading directly with players, and I'll be in the won't care group.

If they do it I think it should only be for the "top two" mods for the variable types. By that I mean for example hp mods. There are many different hp mods but I think only +29 and +30 health should be on sale. Or maybe just the +30. For enchanting it would be 19% and 20%.
There could be sort like on the balthazar reward guy where you can pick between swords/axe/wand/etc...
